Frequently Asked Questions

Why Donate?

Every year, high-quality lab equipment is retired or left unused — not because it’s broken, but because it's no longer research-grade. By donating through LabLink, your lab can reduce waste and directly empower students in under-resourced schools with hands-on science tools. It’s an easy way to give back while advancing equity in STEM education.

Why Request Equipment?

Access to quality lab equipment shouldn’t depend on a school’s budget. LabLink connects underfunded schools with surplus tools from top-tier research labs — giving students the chance to explore, experiment, and truly engage with science. Whether you're just starting a lab or looking to expand your STEM offerings, we're here to help.

What types of equipment can I donate?

We accept functional lab equipment such as microscopes, pipettes, centrifuges, glassware, and small benchtop instruments. Items must be safe, clean, and appropriate for an educational setting. We do not accept hazardous materials, chemicals, broken equipment, or expired consumables.

Can we request specific items?

Yes — the more specific your request, the better we can match you. However, we encourage flexibility since our inventory depends on donations.

 More About LabLink

LabLink is more than just a donation platform: it’s a movement to rethink how science education is accessed and supported. Founded by Yale students, we partner directly with labs, schools, and community organizations to ensure that every piece of equipment we redistribute is meaningful, safe, and impactful. Our AI-powered matching system helps streamline the process, making it easy for donors to give and for educators to receive the tools they need. As we grow, we’re committed to scaling sustainably, expanding our reach, and continuing to build lasting relationships with the communities we serve.
